..Totally Kissable..

I adore this little boy!

Don't you?

I'm pretty darn crazy about this one too!
(Sorry, I copied the pic from FB and it won't go any bigger!  Send me pics...please?)

Wish I could see him more.

I'm the luckiest Aunt.

..Determined..

Ronnie is not one of those children that is...let's say "passionate" about many things. He doesn't get really stuck on anything.  He's very intelligent and he gets bored easily.  So imagine our suprise when he taught himself to do this...

...in less than a day!

Nelson took the training wheels off and ran with him one time.

"I want to do it myself Dad.  Don't help me anymore."

He spent the entire morning practicing by himself, and in less than 3 hours, had mastered bike riding.

Now, there is most definitely an alterior motive here.  See, Ronnie is also not the type of child to something just because.  No, he has to get something out of it.

So, what could possibly motivate a child like this to ride a bike sans training wheels in only a matter of hours?

THIS!

His Grandpa Mangum bought a "Ronnie Sized" dirt bike for his grandkids (but Ronnie is the only one big enough to ride it right now, so he thinks it's his) and told him he could ride it when he learned how to ride a bike. (Note: bike is not exact depiction of the one now haunting my dreams at night)

Go figure! The boy never cared to learn to ride a bike, but he couldn't wait to ride the motorcycle.

So he learned to ride a bike!
(I might be able to blame Grandpa Evans for this passion. Not that it's a bad thing, I was just hoping he would be a bit older when it hit.)

Whatever the reason, we are so proud of him!  Way to go Ronnie!
(Mom's still not so sure about the motorcycle though.)

..Men in the kitchen..

This is the result of allowing men in the kitchen!
(It was Nelson's idea)

(I'm not a hater of men in the kitchen, I know lots of men that cook well!  This is just too funny not to draw attention too.  So, no angry "Men can cook too!" comments.  Thanks.)

..P U..

Driving home last night, I see a VERY LARGE skunk running across the road.
I immediately brake to avoid hitting the skunk.
I find the "BUMP" that accompanies running over such critters to be very depressing.
How does the stinky critter repay my life saving courtesy?
Come smell my car! The nerve!
Maybe I won't think twice next time a black and white stink machine is running in front of my car.

..'Tis The Season..

It's that time again!
Oh, did you think I was talking about the holidays?
Nope. It's baby season. That time when it seems like everyone is having babies again. Everyone but me. All the ladies in the ward that had babies when we got Ryland are all expecting again. As they should be...Ryland is 2, so are their babies. It's the natural flow of things. But not for me.
Complaining...just a little. It's my natural flow. Feel left out, complain, get over it.
Just praying the Lord has another baby in our future...sometime soon!
One can hope.

..Baby Feet..

My latest cake was for a pink and blue baby shower. They don't know what they are having yet. I stewed over several ideas, but sickness and just being plum tired meant the easy cake design won. I think it still turned out pretty darn cute!

..Reaffirmed..

I have been miserably sick for almost 2 weeks now. Well, miserably for one, a little less than miserably for the last.
Last week I spent 3 days in bed. BORING! But totally out of my control.
My kids....were complete and utter miracles!
They could have destroyed my house in a million different ways while I lie there sleeping for hours on end.
But they didn't!
Were there are few mishaps?
They're kids...not perfect. But nothing that couldn't be handled.
I have gained an entirely new appreciation for my boys.
They ARE good boys!
They don't hate their mother! They don't purposely try to make my life miserable.
I AM a good mother and I AM raising good kids.
I LOVE MY KIDS in a way I never have before. I look at them differently. I handle situations differently. I adore them!
Was being bed ridden, horribly sick, out of my mind, not myself, miserable a blessing in disguise?
It certainly wasn't all bad! (But I'm desperately tired of being sick. I want my body back!)

..The Impossible Decision..

So, how you do make the impossible decision?
Is there really such a thing? Or does is just seem impossible sometimes?
What's my impossible decision?
Extended Family
OR
Financial Security
For me, it's a tough one.
I am family! That's pretty simple. I just am family! I love being around family. I love the closeness of my family. I love the support of family. I love family parties. I love family relationships. I love family chaos - it means people are real. I LOVE MY FAMILY!
I also want to be secure in my financial future, which in this economy, is not so easy to come by anymore. I want my husband to be in a position to feel proud as a provider, that he is doing the best he can. I don't want him to have to work forever; which means we need to make enough money to build up some sort of retirement. I would love for him to enjoy what he does and not have to complete manual labor for the rest of his days. It's hard on a guys body.
Logically, the decision seems easy.
Emotionally, the decision is breaking my heart.
How would you choose?

..What am I doing wrong..

I've been home from my vacation, in which I left Ronnie with some family friends for the week, for only 2 days. They say he was perfectly well behaved, I think she may have even used the word angel once. But he's driving my up the wall! I've come to the conclusion that my problem is one of two scenarios...
1. He is a completely different child when I am gone. In which case, what have I done to make him want to be so "difficult" when I'm around?
OR
2. The problem is simply me. I'm obviously not meeting his needs somehow, he's acting out, and I'm totally clueless as to what I need to do different.
I'm leaning towards the latter. I figure it's time to take responsibility for the situation, after all, am I the mother. So the question remains.
What am I doing wrong?

..As Promised..

Goat babies are here. We finally got our girls. Sadie gave us two sweet little does. One that looks like daddy and one that looks like mommy. Pepper gave us two bucklings, twins! They're all adorable and we love having the little balls of energy around to watch.
