..Health Care Reform?..

I fear I may have done myself a great disservice by not educating myself about this "Health Bill" that was just passed prior to now.  So, in an effort to rectify the situation, I have been dabling.

But there is so much to dabble in!

And how much or what information is accurate?
The whole truth and nothing but the truth?
Is there even such a thing?

I doubt even those who wrote said bill know what the truth is.  Atleast, not any truth they are willing to share.

I still don't know much.  In fact, compared to the amount of information there is, I still know nothing.

But I can't help the overwhelming gut feeling that it's just not right.  It's not good.  And I'm scared of what it means for our country, our government, and our future.

I'm putting it to poll!  I want your info.  What do you know about the new bill?  What are your thoughts and feelings?

Don't be shy!  I really want to know. Pro or con, I'm seeking the truth.

All I know is that for the first time we will be MANDATED (forced) to have health insurance. I don't think it's American to be forced to do something like that. I don't know what it will mean for all of us as far as health care goes, but like you, I'm nervous about all this. Whenever anything is too complicated for the people it will affect to understand, it can't be good.

I myself don't know much either, but what I do know if it I have decided it is a mess. Stupid decision to let the government have more control over something else that they shouldn't. I fear for our future in this country too. I just read an awesome book called Glenn Beck's Common Sense. It really brings a lot into light about all this stuff if you are interested, check it out!

Don't you just love that IF you don't have the mandatory Health Insurance you get slapped with a fine, too. So, not only do you have to pay the medical bill FULL, but you now owe a fine as well. OH, and our doctors, WONDERFUL as they are for spend 8-12years of their life studying (perhaps specializing) to help the American public, now have to consult with another opposing Physician so the patient and their family members can have a choice. Oh, did I mention said MD's that specialize DON'T get paid extra $$ for their skill/talent/knowledge? No, what income is good for one MD is good for the next. Oh, and here is a good one. RESEARCH, there will no longer be ANY funding for research! Sweet, wanted answers to your children's happenings? You don't get to. Am I in love with this? No. I oppose.

John told me today that they just passed a 'FIX IT BILL'. We aren't sure what it means exactly but it makes me feel a little bit better.

The big changes (like mandatory health insurance) will not take effect for another 4 years (aka: when Obama is no longer our President?). So far, the changes that are happening are small, but relatively good. I still don't like it, but it could be a LOT worse.

And from the looks of it, there are many states that are already planning on suing for for the federal government forcing these supposedly state-government-only decisions.

One point that WAS fixed was the part of the bill concerning abortion. The original plan was to have tax payers help pay for women to get abortions. That really made me upset. But it was "fixed" and is no longer an issue (thank goodness).

I am terrified about what this will do to the health care system and to our country. There are some good things but overall I feel they are trying to fix the problem from the wrong end. There are so many things that could be fixed and they are starting at the things that should be fixed last.

My work provided this for us. It should help you know a little about some of the changes.
