..The BIG 30..

Yup, that's right! That's how OLD Nelson turned last Saturday. (I can say that 'cause I'm his wife...he's old! HeHe) Nelson is pretty simple, there's not much he wants in life. He never asks for much when it comes to gifts, so I'm always on my own when it comes to coming up with ideas. Well, this year, he didn't get anything. Just a big party with good food, good friends, good times, and good memories. He loves socializing! He's probably more "womanly" in that aspect than I am, I don't do social. We invited all our friends and I threw him a grand ol' shindig! ...and he was 2 hours late. But it actually, for once, was not his fault! There was a huge accident on the interstate, he was coming home from Oklahoma, and they got stuck on the interstate for 4 hours! Blech!!! I was really bummed out, but it was a great party and we had a great time anyways! Thanks all who came and made it great.

Now for the mushy stuff. Hey, what kind of mommy blogger would I be if I didn't pay tribute to my man on his big day (even if it's almost a week late)? See, he's one of the lucky ones...he actually gets 3 big days this time of year. I affectionately call it his "tri-fecta", and yes, I think I'm pretty sure I made up the word. Don't know where I got it, I tried to look it up in the dictionary, or even "fecta", but it's not there! Anywho, back to the mush! June is Father's Day, Anniversary, and Birthday all within 2 weeks of each other. This year, Father's Day and Anniversary actually fell on the same day. So here goes the very deserving tribute...

I can honestly say, for the first time in several years, that I am married to my best friend. The one who completes me. Without him, I am nothing. He is my rock, my strength, my shoulder, my eternal optimism, my playmate, my confidante, my lover, my driving force, my smile, my provider, my companion, my courage, my healer, my biggest fan, my breath, my everything! It brings so much pain to my heart to imagine life without him. The bittersweet journey has been worth every moment. Thank you for never giving up on me! Thank you for loving me even when I didn't deserve it! Thank you for choosing me to spend eternity with, I hope we make it! But most of all, thank you for being you, the person I love with all my heart! I can't wait to see what the next 8 years has to offer us! (I'd say 30, but you don't want to live that long! Wink, Wink)
